VPS Redundancy

Question -
Is it important to you that your VPS has automatic hardware failover? I.e. if the core node fails, the ability to reprovision itself on alternative hardware.
If you haven't considered this, and you feel it would be a benefit, would you be prepared to pay more for this kind of VPS than one which didn't? If so, how much would you value that at?

`Shoudn't this be the headache of provider, if some hardware component fails how can they gurantee 99.9% uptime.
I have leased the server and i should not be responsible for hardware failures. It is the responsibility of hosting provider to ensure that hardware is up and runnning

Hi Frank,
I think you've missed my point. I'm not saying it should be your problem to fix the hardware.
The fact of the matter is simple - if you have a VPS, and the core node it on has a hardware failure, all the environments on it will be down until it's fixed. This is of course the responsibility of the provider, but it's not just a headache for them - it's a headache for everyone hosted on that node because their servers and sites are down.
Say it is down for even just an hour whilst it's fixed. That's still an hour of downtime that you'd surely rather not have?
Imagine if virtual server environments had the capability to automatically re-deploy on alternative hardware, within a couple of minutes of the hardware failure. Would this be important to you? Would you be prepared to pay more?

That would depend on how critical my webiste is, definitely if it is an ecommerce based website.
